If you were like me growing up in the 80's and 90's you were glued to rally racing on the other side of the pond. Watching fearless drivers do seemingly impossible things with a car on a narrow dirt road with blind turns, crests and trees....lots of trees! At the heart of that era Mitsubishi and specifically Finnish driver Tommi Makinen were dominant! To commemorate his 4 consecutive WRC championships Mitsubishi launched the Evolution 6.5 Tommi Makinen edition. With reportedly only 2500 being made it truly is a rare bird. Now sadly us yanks never got the EVO until the 2003 EVO VIII, making this an even harder car to run into in the wild.

The TME received some special equipment over the standard EVO VI. Revised TME bodywork includes an aluminum vented hood and front over-fenders as well as a revised front bumper and air dam, body- color power-adjustable side mirrors, mud flaps, rear fender flares, rear fog lamp, under spoiler and adjustable rear wing.

To compliment that aggressive exterior the TME is fitted with 17" TME Enkei Wheels. The anti-lock disc brakes feature four and two piston Brembo calipers mounted over ventilated rotors. The Tommi Makinen Edition was also equipped with a specially-tuned suspension featuring aluminum control arms and anti-roll bars front and rear.

The Interior also got the special treatment featuring Recaro bucket seats trimmed in black escaine with red cloth inserts and matching upholstery extends to the rear bench seat. Fully functional air conditioning, digital clock, power windows and a double din aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth connectivity and lastly a leather wrapped factory Momo steering wheel

Under the hood the TME had some very nice upgrades over the standard EVO VI. The turbocharged 2.0 Liter 4G63 inline four featers a larger capacity front mounted intercooler, a larger TD05HR -16G Turbocharger, redesigned pistons with improved oil flow compared to the standard EVO VI. Power is routed to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and an all wheel drive system with an Active Yaw Control (AYC) torque-vectoring system. Exhaust gasses are moved through a Fujitsubo Cat back exhaust and pressure is vented through a Tomei factory blow off valve.

This particular car was imported into the US in early 2025. It holds a clean and clear Arizona title and is ready to be plated and registered in any state. Upon importation to the us the previous owner did some much needed improvements. Replacing the tired factory struts with upgraded Bilstein units and paired them with Ralliart strut mounts. lastly fresh fluids, spark plugs, spark plug wires and coil packs were done to keep her in top running condition.
